Did you know that in Ireland, Irish Gaelic is generally referred to as Irish? While some native Irish people do still call their native language Irish Gaelic, this term is typically only used by people outside of the country. In Irish itself, the language is called Gaeilge, which when pronounced sounds very similar to the English word Gaelic. A similar situation applies to Manx Gaelic as well, where generally on the Isle of Man, the English name for the language is Manx. Scottish Gaelic is different however, as native Scottish people refer to their language as Scottish Gaelic, or Gàidhlig as it's called in the native tongue. So when referring to any of these three languages, you can either add or drop the Gaelic ending from the name, as both versions are widely accepted.
