Did you know that the most linguistically important dialects of Ulster Irish is called the Rosses, or Na Rosa in Gaelic? The dialect has been extensively used in various forms of literature, such as the works of the renown brothers Séamus Ó Grianna and Seosamh Mac Grianna, or known by their English names as Jimí Fheilimí and Joe Fheilimí. Most people throughout the world are unknowingly familiar with this dialect of Irish, because it's frequently used by Enya, her sister Moya Brennan, and the remainder of her family based music group called Clannad. If you listen to Ulster Irish, you'll notice it sounds very different than traditional Irish Gaelic, and it also has several overlapping features of Scottish Gaelic. Some language experts have concluded that Ulster Irish is actually a delicate medium between Southern and Western Irish Gaelic, and Scottish Gaelic. Ulster is home to the largest Gaeltacht region in the world, known as Donegal.
