Did you know that the Manx Gaelic vocabulary is primarily derived from Old Irish, but also incorporates words from Old Norse, Latin, Middle and Modern English, and even Anglo-Norman French? Despite adopting some of it's words from other languages, it still closely parallels both Irish and Scottish Gaelic, and can be deciphered by possessing an advanced comprehension in either of the two. With regard to it's sprinkling of influences from other languages, some of these words can be understood in English, as English itself was moderately influenced by the same sources, and in some cases English has even incorporated Gaelic words.
