What Is The Expression Or Saying Gaelic And Garlic?
Anthony from Brooklyn New York sent our editor the following question. What is the expression or saying Gaelic and garlic? This saying generally refers to anything that is part Irish, part Italian. It is mostly used to describe people within the United States who are half Irish and half Italian, however I have also heard it used to describe food and beverages. I looked around the internet to see if I could discover who coined the phrase, but unfortunately I wasn't able to come up with a name. The expression seems at least several decades old, however I have notice that recently there are t-shirts and various merchandise available with the phrase on it. I assume that the expression is somewhat sarcastic, and that there aren't any negative or offensive meanings associated with it. Thanks again Anthony for sending in this question. If anyone else has a question for us, please submit it to our staff through email.
